We are expanding the involvement of The Planet Of The Dogs Book Series in therapy dog reading programs in libraries and schools.
We are now participating in programs in CT, RI, Illonois and Texas and will extend our involvement with Snow Valley Heroes-A Christmas Tale, Volume Three in the series.
Julie Hauck, who created the Pages for Preston reading program at the Longfellow School in Sheboygan,Wisconsin, has been working as a certified Therapy Dog Tester Observer this summer (8 dogs and their owners) and as an AKC Canine Good Citizen Tester.
This photo shows Julie in the classroom with a student reading Castle In The Mist to Preston.
Her classes have been enthusiastic about using the Planet Of The Dogs Book Series, and this fall, as the program continues, will receive advance copies of Snow Valley Heroes.
Julie Hauck said,"It was wonderful to witness my students applying character lessons from the books in their own peer interactions...my students love them...(these books) are great motivators to encourage young people to read."
The success of Pages For Preston has been a major factor in our decision to expand our participation in therapy dog reading programs.
Librarians and teachers who would like complimentary reading copies for thereapy dog reading programs should contact us at [email protected].
